● Acriche Octagonal 2W
Single Emitter,
Upgraded Design Increases Efficacy
by 20% to 48 lm/W
- Semiconductor light source that operates directly from AC power without converters
● March 6, 2007 - SSC released the Acriche 2W single
emitter. The luminous efficacy increases by 20% from prior
versions to 48 lumens per watt. At 48 Lumens per Watt the new Acriche
is comparable with conventional LEDs systems
where the bulb achieves 57 lumens per watt but loses
20% in the AC/DC converter.
● SSC plans to increase Acriche’s luminous efficacy to 80 lm/W in the
fourth quarter of 2007, and to 120 lm/W in 2008.

March
6, 2007, Korea – SSC successfully
held its 1st technical seminar
for the next generation LED lighting in Korea. More
than 100 participants included CEOs, designers, and engineers
of lighting, architectural, and signage industries,
officials, and journalists.
Different countries of the world are rapidly moving to replace conventional lighting with LED based solid state lighting. The driving forces of this change array from environmental pollution controls, rising oil prices, electrical efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and demands for no mercury or lead. SSC,
a world leading LED manufacturer held the technical seminar
to contribute to the improvement of lighting, architectural,
signage and all other industries, which need LED lighting, and
to energy saving and environmental protection in the
world.
The seminar incorporates introduction
of SSC, understanding of lighting, lighting source,
LEDs, thermal properties of LED packages and chips, electrical
properties and operating principal of LEDs, optics, and smiconductor
light source, Acriche.
According to the results of
the conducted survey of participants, the explanation
of SSC's semiconductor light souce, Acriche was the most
satisfying. Over 80% of the participants said that
it was hepful to understand LED lighting and they would
participate in the future seminar again. Thus, the
seminar had a wide appeal, and SSC will also hold
the seminar abroad when there are upsurging requests.
